i'm kicking myself in the butt right now.
the only time i do not have my better camera charged and i missed a good opportunity to take a picture of something pretty exciting today.
coming back from our walk, my significant other and i with our children get down into our driveway and were immediately stopped by this large bird flying overhead. at first it did look like a crow because it was so low and close to us. nope, it was a bald eagle flying around 30-40 feet above our heads over our yard. it tried to swoop down to pick something up from the road (a bird that had been hit and killed by traffic earlier) but it was unable to by passing cars.
it flew up into the trees across the street until it tried at another pass. this time i decided to grab the only camera with any battery life to it, the camera with horrible quality and slow speed.
i manage to come back out and try snapping the button as fast as i could, i only got one picture, one blurry picture. i wish i would have gotten a video instead and taken stills from it (perhaps better quality would have come from that).
the eagle was so close above our heads that i could see that it flew with it's beak partially open as it flew over the top of the house and across the river again.
we have no idea if it was able to pick up the dead bird, it may have been somewhat scared because we were pretty excited seeing the huge bird so close to us.
so next time i see something, i am going to keep my better camera charged.
